Dear Planning Commission Members:
I urge the Linn Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors when considering the revision plan, to adhere the vision set forth in The Covenant, by our community’s founders. This document has been a cornerstone to the preservation of Geneva Lake and a guide post on how to best maintain the natural splendor of the area since it was drafted by community members in 1910.
The overall message from that first Comprehensive Plan was to ensure development along the shore should be limited to a small number of wharfs, marinas and sailing clubs. By responsibly limiting commercialization to those developments, the area has remained both a fruitful place of business and a peaceful oasis for residents, visitors and wildlife. Any plan to commercialize residential properties at the of developers undercuts the insightful guide created by our founders and puts the future of our community and the health of Geneva Lake in jeopardy.
I respectfully request that we continue to preserve residential lakeshore properties from commercialization and support commercial growth in areas where agricultural and environmentally preserved land will not be negatively impacted.
Respectfully,
