Tell the LG Planning Commission: Preserve Our Residential Communities
As a member of this community, I am concerned with the proposal to allow short-term rentals in areas zoned for neighborhood business (NB) and neighborhood office (NO).
I applaud the Lake Geneva Planning Commission for – at least temporarily – tabling the proposal and urge our leaders to remember their commitment to the Geneva Lake community if they bring the proposal back to the table.
I ask the Planning Commission to vote NO on this proposal for the following key reasons:
It will no doubt lead to further commercialization of Lake Geneva;
Our quiet communities could see many “party houses” pop up, leaving property damaged and neighbors disturbed;
It would result in even more traffic congestion in peak tourist seasons, causing headaches for residents;
Short-term renters are more prone to damaging behavior because they lack the same responsibility to the community as residents have;
The re-zone requires a change to the City of Lake Geneva Comprehensive Plan, which was drafted to prevent commercial interests from overpowering our lakeside communities.
I stand with the residents and visitors of Lake Geneva to protect this beautiful community from further commercialization. This is why I say to the Planning Commission: VOTE NO on the short-term rental proposal.
As a member of this community, I support Care for Lake Geneva’s efforts in securing a bright future for Geneva Lake and its surrounding natural habitat. I recognize that we can only achieve this goal through community involvement and education. That is why I am committed to advocating for responsible land development and ensuring our elected officials hear our collective voice. By joining in this organization’s efforts, I will work to ensure this community remains a peaceful and clean habitat to be enjoyed by residents and visitors for generations to come.
