During the Finance and License Meeting on September 3, Mayor Tom Hartz put forward plans to have Mike Slavney and Vandewalle & Associates do a Concept Plan for developing Hillmoor because the Feasibility Plan failed to pass a few weeks ago. Thanks in large part to the loyal Hillmoor Devotees and excellent speeches by community members, the community managed to defeat the measure by a vote of 3 to 2. The Concept Plan is expected to be on the City Council agenda for its meeting on September 9. Come out and stand up for Lake Geneva's future -- RSVP below to let us know you will be there!
When: Monday, September 9 6:00pm
Where: City Hall Chambers
Mayor Hartz told everyone attending the September 3 meeting that the Comprehensive Plan is not intended to reflect the public's vision for the city, but rather to reflect what the City Council feels is "Best for the City." Care for Lake Geneva whole heartedly disagrees with this. Help us ensure the Comprehensive Plan is the People's Plan!
This is also a great opportunity to voice disappointment that four out of the surrounding five municipalities have signed onto a plan to hydraulically dredge the lake to combat the spread of Starry stonewort, an invasive and destructive algae species, but Lake Geneva officials continue to balk. Meanwhile, this ecological threat becomes greater by the day. We cannot afford to delay action. The plan needs all five municipalities to sign, otherwise the project dies, and Geneva Lake will likely undergo dangerous chemical treatments. Urge community leaders to sign the Shared Service Agreement NOW!
