The Lake Geneva City Council is expected to update the city's Comprehensive Plan this December, which will severely impact future development plans, preservation and city services. A major component in this update is a potential map change to the Hillmoor property. During its September 9th meeting, the City Council voted 6-2 in favor of hiring Vandewalle & Associates to do a Concept Plan for (likely commercial) developments on Hillmoor.
City officials are expecting to present a draft Comprehensive Plan update to the Lake Geneva Plan Commission on September 16 before finalizing the plan in late December.
Come out this Monday night, and speak out to protect our precious green space from commercialization!
When: Monday, September 16 6:00pm
Where: City Hall Council Chambers
This is also another opportunity to voice disappointment that four out of the surrounding five municipalities have signed onto a plan to hydraulically dredge the lake to combat the spread of Starry stonewort, an invasive and destructive algae species, but Lake Geneva officials continue to balk. Meanwhile, this ecological threat becomes greater by the day. We cannot afford to delay action. The plan needs all five municipalities to sign, otherwise the project dies, and Geneva Lake will likely undergo dangerous chemical treatments. Urge community leaders to sign the Shared Service Agreement NOW!
The Lake Geneva Plan Commission meets the 3rd Monday of every month, pending holiday schedules, at City Hall. Meetings begin at 6:00 pm, unless otherwise stated. Click here to learn more about the Lake Geneva Plan Commission times and topics.
